After August 31st, Astound/RCN will no longer be our cable and internet provider. Do not risk losing your cable and internet services by not making the switch from Astound/RCN to Verizon. It is your responsibility to contact Verizon to schedule service (not the HOA office). Scheduling service and having service issues are handled via two separate methods. History: Dunbarton is situated on land first settled by the Linton family from Scotland in 1894. Sister Mary Baptista, Order of Visitation (formerly Sarah Eliot Linton), donated her family estate, Lintonsford, to the Benedictine Monks for the purpose of opening two schools to serve disadvantaged children. The land for Dunbarton was later sold to provide residential development.  On these 141 acres, where the Sisters once picked berries and fished, are now 479 homes.
 
Award Winning: Each year, the Washington Metropolitan Chapter of the Community Associations Institute (WMCCAI) holds a Community Association of the Year contest to recognize communities that best demonstrate excellence in all facets of association operations and governance by following the Community Associations Institute's Best Practices. There were four size categories: Very Large (1,000+ units), Large (500-999 units), Medium (150-499 units), and Small (1-149 units). In 2014, Dunbarton was recognized as the Medium-Sized Community Association of the Year. Additional award categories included the Humanitarian of the Year Award. This award is given to a community, regardless of size, that best demonstrates exemplary service to the community outside its own association. Applicants are judged for outstanding service to the community in areas of community service and charitable works. In 2012, Dunbarton was the runner-up in the Humanitarian of the Year category.
